You Love Movies and I Hate My Name!
In “Melo Movie”, Ko Gyum‘s big brother takes care of him. They rented a room in a video store. The store owner didn’t mind having this young kid around because he was no trouble. He just stayed in the room and watched movies. He didn’t need to be entertained or carefully looked after by the adult babysitting him while his brother went to work. He practically took care of himself. Just give him a VCR and some VHS tapes. Living in a room behind a video rental store was perfect! He watched every movie in the store except the one with the green tape. Those weren’t for children.
Eventually, Ko Gyum did get old enough and he watched every video in the store. By then his friend told him that anybody who watched as many movies as he watched should have a career in the film business. So he decided to get a job as an actor. Of course, he didn’t become an A-List celebrity, but doing a small role was rewarding for him. Then one day this young woman showed up. Her name is Kim Mu-Bee. She hated movies and she hated her name “Mu-Bee”, which sounded like “movie”. Ko Gyum thought her name was awesome!
Kim Mu-Bee‘s father always wanted to make his own movie. He died before he could realize his dream. After attending his memorial service, she went through his belongings and found a movie he had made. It was so awful that she became angry! Kim Mu-Bee couldn’t believe her father had wasted his life (in her opinion). She decided to get a job working in the movie industry just to prove how bad it was. But she also wanted to be successful. Kim Mu-Bee needed to release her anger and she didn’t get a job to make friends or find a lover. But does life ever go the way it should?
Kim Mu-Bee and Ko Gyum were both in the movie industry and their paths crossed. He constantly tried to pursue a relationship with her. She constantly tried to avoid him and make him leave her alone. Ko Gyum persisted in his advances and she kept resisting until she finally got to know him and found herself attracted to him. Kim Mu-Bee decided to open her heart to him and just like that … he disappeared.
Ko Gyum disappeared from her life without a trace, no explanation. She chose to believe that he died. Isn’t that what usually happens when people go missing like that? He must be dead. Kim Mu-Bee believed that until one day he came back. He’s alive????????

Where to Watch
Viewership and Rating:
- IMDb: 9.2 out of 10 stars
- My Drama List: 8 out of 10 stars
My personal rating is the same as My Drama List.
This is my third 2025 K-drama on Netflix. The first was “When the Stars Gossip” and the second was “The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call”. The Korean dramas released so far this year on Netflix have not gotten me very excited.
“Melo Movie” had a primary couple and a secondary couple. I’ve only watched three (3) K-drama where I liked the secondary couple: “Business Proposal”, “Guardian: The Lonely and Great God”, and “Doom at Your Service”.
